Happy Birthday...to me!

I recently turned 31, and here are some images from my special day!

Felix helps with the cake. (It was a snicker-doodle cake, with home-made buttercream frosting. It was delicious!)

We decided to attempt an impromptu photo shoot, since Jake bought me a new backdrop for my birthday, (Now I have two!) and I was itching to test it out. Unfortunately, my batteries for my flashes were dead and had not been recharged because I was assisting at a wedding the night before, and I could not get my lighting right. I was irritated at first, but when I saw the resulting pictures I had to laugh, because I got some really funny images that I still can't look at without cracking up.

This is the "huh?" look I got when I asked if the timer light was blinking on the camera.

And I don't even know what was going on here.

Test shot with Jake and Mojo.

Test shot with Jake. I can't look at this without laughing!

Finally got the timer working and managed to squeeze myself into a shot.

This is what happens when you try to incorporate cats into the shot.

This is about when the flashes started to die. This is the "mom is getting irritated, this is not fun anymore" shot.

Sunglasses=instant fun.

Don't ask, because I don't even know what was going on here.

Felix frosting the cake. It was supposed to be a double layer cake, but Mojo snuck in and ate one of the cakes off of the stove while it was cooling. At least he left me the other half, which left us with a one layer cake that had a LOT of extra frosting.

After we went out to eat dinner at Saigon Remembered, (an excellent restaurant by the way), I saw some beautifully lit clouds I wanted to capture, and the sky was golden. By the time I ran out and grabbed my camera, the light had already changed, but I took some pictures anyway.

All in all, it was a great day. I spent it with my family, and taking pictures. Who could ask for anything more? :)

  1. That was one of the most fun photo shoots ever. It was not nearly as much work as you make it out to be. For us, anyway.
