On Friday, October 16th, my family and I had the pleasure of attending JHU's "Parent and Daughter Evening Under the Stars," at the Space Telescope Instiute. http://www.stsci.edu/institute/ This year is the International Year of Astronomy, in celebration of Galileo's first observations of the universe through a telescope 400 years ago in
1609. We were treated to dinner, a speech, and then we were given our own galileoscopes to assemble. To learn more about the International Year of Astronomy, you can look here. http://www.astronomy2009.org/general/ We have gotten to use the galileoscope a couple of times.
Here is a shot of the moon using my 18-70mm lens.
And this is through the galileoscope. The moon was nice and full that night! And let me tell you, it is not easy to photograph the moon through a telescope. I'm sure there's an easier way, but I haven't discovered it yet!

Felix looking through the galileoscope. You do need a tripod to mount it on. Luckily, being a photographer, I do own one!

Jake and Felix!

The next time we used the galileoscope, was during a half-moon. This shot was with my 80-200 zoom lens, zoomed all the way in. Not too bad.

But this is through the galileoscope. https://www.galileoscope.org/gs/ Pretty neat!
