Dan + Caitlin

So fun story... I met Caitlin back in February while doing promotional photos for her musical endeavor with William Nicholson, the LoveTones. I'd worked with William a few times so I was more than happy to be involved with this project as well. Caitlin and I ended up hitting it off and come to find out, she was engaged to be married in 2021. So not only did I get to work with some cool musicians, I got a wedding out of the deal!
Dan and Caitlin were wonderful to work with. They were absolute sweethearts with a great sense of humor and an obvious love for each other. I love the "How We Met" on their wedding website:

"Dan and Caitlin met through mutual friends in Syracuse, NY who strongly believed in and encouraged their couple potential. The first time they spent time alone, it was because Dan offered to assist Caitlin at her car dealership after she hit a deer. They're grateful for the many more - less traumatic - dates they've had since then."
Dan proposed on a winter getaway to Lake Placid because it was one of Caitlin's favorite spots and she wanted to check out the Winter Carnival at Saranac Lake. The trip was a Christmas gift in the form of an Airbnb gift card because Caitlin had been wanting to take a trip together. While there, they visited the Olympic Center and were able to see hockey teams and figure skaters competing for the Empire State Winter Games, as well as visiting the Olympic Museum.
After a delicious dinner and craft beers at a spot called Liquids and Solids at the Handlebar, (which Caitlin highly recommends!) they returned to the loft cabin they were staying in for the weekend. Dan decided to propose a day early and convinced Caitlin to brush her teeth (I'd kind of like to hear that conversation! 😆) so he could get the ring he'd stowed away. In Caitlin's words:
"Dan pulled me in for a hug before getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. After my hundredth "OH MY GOSH" and "I'm so excited!" Dan finally asked to clarify, "So is that a yes?"

It was a yes, of course, and we have the pictures from a beautiful July day to prove it!

July 10th was a warm sunny day with a nice breeze; a welcome change from the many rainy days that preceded it! Caitlin and Dan were married at the Plum Point Lodge, and I cannot stress enough how helpful and friendly the staff was throughout the evening. Caitlin had her first look with her Dad who then escorted her to the dock for her first look with her husband-to-be. Michael from Nostalgic Innovations  was their videographer for the day, and he and I had so much fun with Dan and Caitlin. Seriously, we were laughing and joking with them through most of the session! (By the way, Michael is excellent at what he does and I highly recommend Nostalgic Innovations if you're looking for a videographer.) After some portraits around the Plum Point Lodge, Dan and Caitlin were married in front of the beautiful Seneca Lake. United in love and laughter, the newlyweds and their guests made their way to the reception for a delicious meal catered by Sapalta. Everyone spent the evening enjoying the lovely weather and each other's company.

More and more of my couples are scheduling an evening photo shoot into their timeline to take advantage of the golden hour or sunset, and I couldn't be happier. We got some beautifully soft lit portraits on the dock before the final event of the night, the wishing stone send-off. The wishing stone send-off was new to me; the idea was to take a stone, make a wish for the newlyweds, and throw it into the lake so it can come true. It was fun to watch everyone's different techniques. Some gently tossed their stone in, some skipped their stones, and some chucked 'em as far as they could! (I'm looking at you, Caitlin!)

All in all, it was a perfect day, and I'm glad I got to take part in it. Congratulations, Dan and Caitlin!

We did a first look with Dad before meeting Dan on the dock.

Dan is ready to see his bride for the first time!

Caitlin put together her own bouquet for the wedding.
