Ben + Carin: September Wedding at the Carriage House

Ben and Carin's first date, interestingly enough, was a wedding! They knew each other for a few years through mutual friends, but only saw each other maybe once or twice a year at parties. Ben needed a date for a small farmhouse wedding a couple of days before Christmas, and the same friends suggested Carin. After the wedding, they went to the B-Side Ballroom in Oneonta for a drink. I'd say that it must have gone well! Within the first four months of their relationship, they purchased a vacation home in Vieques, PR, hence the tropical/island theme of their wedding. Beautiful orchids graced the tables, as well as golden pineapples! Coddington's Florist did an amazing job not only with the bouquets, but all of the beautiful flower arrangements decorating the venue. The men wore guayabera shirts, which are formal attire/wedding garb in many parts of the Caribbean, and seashells in vases with floating candles all contributed to the tropical feel.

The ceremony and reception were at the Carriage House Event Center, (one of my favorite local venues!) in Oneonta. The ceremony was originally supposed to be held outside, but because of rain, it was moved inside to the second floor. Although not the original plan, the space gave it a very intimate and dreamy quality. Ben's mother officiated the beautiful ceremony, and I loved seeing her escort him down the aisle before the big moment. Afterwards, the rain let up enough for us to go outside for some photos on the grounds of the Carriage House, which has no shortage of beautiful spaces for photography.

The reception was a blast; so many people dancing and having a good time. Carin and Ben's first dance was beautifully choreographed by Raegan Reed of The Cardio Club and Delhi Dance Studio. Ben literally swept Carin off her feet! After dinner and cake, the dance floor got crazy. Conga lines, Bohemian Rhapsody singalongs, and you know it's a party when the fake mustaches come out! Ben's smile throughout the day was contagious; I honestly don't think I've ever seen a happier groom! Whether in a serious moment, making silly faces at each other, or singing to each other at the reception, you could really see the love between them. I feel very lucky to have witnessed such a wonderful day and to be a part of it in my own way! Congratulations, Carin and Ben!
