I had a blast photographing Josh and Lilah's backyard wedding back in September. I loved how welcoming and cozy their home was. They have been together since 11th grade; I even saw their prom picture! They had actually been engaged for about 9 years. According to Lilah, she "ruined" it by being angry about him spending a lot of money, not realizing it was for her ring!
I had plenty of time to hang out with the gals getting ready, get some formals of the guys when they got there, and explore all of the loving details Lilah put into decorating their yard for the ceremony and reception. Josh and Lilah have two beautiful children who were in the wedding, and some of my favorite moments included her son attacking the groomsmen with an RC truck during the formals, jumping on the trampoline, and hugging his little sister. During the ceremony, he pulled her down the aisle in a red wagon for a cuteness overload!
After the ceremony, we were just getting into the formals when the sky opened up and it absolutely poured! Everyone had to seek shelter, either in the house or the tent, and we all had to just wait until it ended. Luckily for us, it did, and we were blessed with some beautiful sunshine for the rest of the day! Josh drove us up the street a little ways to a beautiful spot with very little traffic to get some photos of just the two of them. There were hills and farms and trees in the background, and the golden sunlight was just perfect!
Afterwards we headed back to the reception for an evening of dancing, games, and wonderful food. The mud didn't stop anyone from having a great time! When I left, the party was still going strong, and I'm glad that I got to be a part of it. Congratulations, Josh and Lilah!
When you're holding up the cornhole game because your jam come on and your friend has to come get you.
